I love it when science is made popular and exciting on T.V. (or in person, for that matter). I am less excited when the provided explanations being inadequate, misleading, or just plain wrong.
That being said, I believe the Mythbusters put forward a good-faith effort in explaining their experiments; that doesn’t mean they’re always entirely right or complete (who is?). Furthermore, I believe that while some people like to turn off their brains while watching the show, there are a lot of people who would like a deeper understanding of what they see. I’m hoping, with your help, to promote a deeper understanding about what’s on the show and in turn, the world around us.
Now, the Mythbusters aren’t the only irreverent “science” show on TV, but they may be the only ones worth watching. I’m not going to waste my time with the “Sports Science” and “It’s Effing Science”s of the world, because the people behind those shows are either intellectually lazy or deceitful; either way, I hope that nobody watches them, leaving me nothing to expand upon.
Of course, I am not a simple man. I also like to dabble with DIY projects and think about everyday science, so I’ll occasionally post on topics other than Mythbusters!
